The Georgia Chamber of Commerce released its 2019 Legislative Scorecard highlighting how elected officials voted on the business community’s top issues during this year’s Session of the Georgia General Assembly. The Scorecard is now live and can be found at www.gachamberscore.com.

With hundreds of bills introduced and debated each legislative session, the Georgia Chamber’s legislative team along with its members identify the most impactful issues to businesses throughout the state by designating them as “scorecard bills.”  The 2019 Scorecard include issues addressing education, healthcare, legal reform, taxation and transportation.

The scorecard site currently includes a synopsis of each bill and reflects how legislators voted on these issues after the first session of a two-session legislative term. At the end of the 2020 Legislative Session, each member of the general assembly will earn a final letter grade based on the combined votes for the two-year term. To receive a final grade on the Scorecard, a legislator must be present and voting in their respective chamber for at least half of the total scorecard votes.

Chris Clark, President and CEO of the Georgia Chamber, states, “For 104 years, the Georgia Chamber has worked with leaders at the Georgia Capitol to position our state for long term economic growth. That means fighting bad policy that hurts free enterprise and championing legislation that helps create jobs. We appreciate those legislators that are committed to this vision.”
