The Tift County Board of Commissioners held a groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 16 for the expansion of Tift Community Health Center.  Tift County owns the building in Tifton and Tift Regional Health System staffs and manages the facility.  The 1,000-square-foot expansion will include six additional exam rooms, a new nurses’ station and support space.  Funding for the project comes from a state community development grant and the Tift County Board of Commissioners.  TCHC, which provides outpatient adult medicine for those who may be economically-disadvantaged, saw approximately 8,500 patients this past year--nearly 1,000 more patients than the previous year.  The expansion project is expected to be completed in March 2018.
