Two of the most iconic homes in Georgia will be the destination on June 20 when the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Alumni Association offers a trip to the Swan House and the Governor’s Mansion in Atlanta.

“We will leave ABAC very early and arrive at the Governor’s Mansion for a morning tour,” ABAC Alumni Director Lynda Fisher said.  “We’ll have lunch at the Swan Coach House as we dine on delicate fare fit for high society.  We’ll then spend the afternoon touring the Swan House and the Atlanta History Museum.  It’s going to be a great day.”

Travelers do not have to be ABAC alumni to make the trip but there is a $10 discount on the $135 per person cost for current ABAC faculty, staff, students and Alumni Association members. The cost includes transportation and lunch.

Space is limited so travelers should sign up immediately by calling (229) 391-4900, emailing Fisher at [email protected], or going online to http://www.abac.edu/travel. The bus will return to ABAC at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Fisher said the Governor’s Mansion is a 30-room, Greek Revival style home built in 1967.  It’s the official residence of Governor Nathan Deal and his wife, Sandra.  The bottom floor furnishings are all museum quality and make up one of the most comprehensive Federal Period collections in the United States.

The signature blue doors of the Swan House lead to a world of culture, commerce, quality, and comfort.  Built by Edward and Emily Inman for luxurious entertaining, it is a part of the dynamic Atlanta History Museum.  The Swan Coach House is located on the grounds of the Museum and serves breezy Southern cuisine in a delightful refined atmosphere.

Lunch choices for the ABAC travelers include The Swan’s Favorite chicken salad in delicate timbales served with creamy frozen fruit and cheese straws, a spinach quiche served with assorted fresh fruit, or soup and tea sandwiches which include a cup of fresh homemade soup served with four tea sandwiches and cheese straws.

Fisher said the trip is a part of the Travel with ABAC, Best of Georgia: Homes & Gardens series.
