Early Monday, September 10, 2018, Southern Regional Technical College announced it had achieved historic record enrollment for the fourth consecutive term. For the Fall 2018 Semester, the College realized a 20.1% increase in total enrollment with a 19.3% increase in full-time equivalency when compared with Fall 2017 figures. The enrollment percentage being the second largest increase across all 22 Technical College System of Georgia institutions.

This announcement comes on the heels of a 2017 Fall Semester that saw a 9.0% and 10.2% increase in total enrollment and full-time equivalency, a 2018 Spring Semester that saw a 9.4% increase in enrollment and a 10.4% increase in full-time equivalency, and a 2018 Summer Semester that saw a 3.3% increase in enrollment and 4.4% increase in full-time equivalency. All numbers are courtesy of the Technical College System of Georgia data center and are a comparison to the previous year semester.

“The administration at Southern Regional is excited to announce a historic record enrollment for Fall Semester enrollment at our college. This follows the largest ever enrollment for SRTC this past Spring and Summer semesters. This record enrollment is once again attributed to the tireless commitment, dedication, and efforts of our entire faculty and staff in enrolling, advising, teaching, and supporting students. These enrollment increases help create more opportunities for our students as we continue our mission of developing a highly skilled workforce for our growing service delivery area,” commented SRTC President Dr. Craig Wentworth.

SRTC’s total enrollment hit a record high of 4,650 students and the College continues to maintain one of the largest Dual Enrollment programs in the state, with around 1,800 students taking advantage of that opportunity. The Dual Enrollment program allows high school students to receive Carnegie unit credit from their respective high school and postsecondary credit hours from the College for the same course. With the recent changes to the program, any student enrolled in a Georgia high school (9th – 12th grade) that meets the dual enrollment and admission requirements of the College is eligible to participate in the program.
