SRTC Inducts Dozens of New NTHS Scholars

Recently, three Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) chapters of the National Technical Honors Society (NTHS) held induction ceremonies to welcome new members to the prestigious student organization, which seeks to prepare exceptional students for exceptional careers. The slogan of NTHS is “Excellence in America’s workforce begins with excellence in workforce education.”

On Thursday, November 8, the Moultrie chapter of the National Technical Honor Society at inducted six new members into the organization. The 2018 Fall NTHS inductees in Moultrie are: Brittany Berry, Toni Dean, Jonathan Florencio, Samantha Hancock, Jasmin Kelsey, and Cleveland Payne

On Wednesday, November 14, the NTHS chapter in Tifton inducted 24 new members into the organization. The 2018 Fall  NTHS inductees are: Teresa Bateman, Alyson Brown, Zechariah Cain, Deborah Collins, Megan Cooper, Deasa Cox, Shanika Dawson, Natalie Zoe Dean, Elisa Dibble, Amy Gonzales, Jessica Harmon, La'Vetta King, Collin Maye, Savannah Owens, Valeria Padilla, Logan Paramore, Nataly Prado, Gabrielle Rucker, Shaniqua Scott, Heather Sullivan, Jan Taylor, Kesha Turner and Chasmine Williams.

Finally, on Monday, December 3, the Thomasville chapter of NTHS welcomed eight new members. The 2018 Fall NTHS inductees are: William Aldavera, Debbie Campbell, Brittany Daniels, Amber Rayne Godley, Ismael Moreno-Hurtado, Monica Jenkins, Vivian Linton, and Angie Walden.

The qualifications for membership in NTHS are as follows: the student must have completed one full semester in attendance at SRTC and must have satisfactorily completed a minimum of 6 credit hours of course work. Student must be enrolled in Spring and Fall semester with a minimum of 6 credit hours. Additionally, students must have a minimum of one semester remaining at SRTC.

The National Technical Honor Society seeks to promote the ideals of honesty, service, leadership, career development, and skilled workmanship. The organization is able to to reward meritorious achievement in technical education. NTHS seeks to encourage and assist technical students in their pursuit of educational and career goals; to develop a greater awareness within the American business, industry, and service communities about the talents and abilities of students engaged in technical education; and to provide technical students with a greater awareness of the world of work.

“Induction into the NTHS is an incredible honor for our students. These new members embody everything a successful student should strive to be. Membership is into the NTHS is based on several academic criteria in addition to several traits exhibited by students outside of the classroom. This group of students can truly be considered leaders among their peers. The students involved in this organization will have the opportunity to seek scholarship opportunities for post-secondary education, build career portfolios with professional letters of recommendation, serve in leadership roles in communities and industries, and discover opportunities in global networks,” commented SRTC Instructor and Tifton NTHS Advisor Tiffany Fox.

Benefits of membership in NTHS include a diploma or certificate seal indicating membership, three letters of recommendation sent upon request to any business, industry, or educational institution where member applies, and an excellent resume entry denoting leadership and participation in a student organization.  The student must have a GPA of 3.75 for the semester in which he/she is nominated and a cumulative GPA of 3.30. All program requirements must also be met for the semester in which he/she is nominated. To maintain eligibility for membership, the student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30.
