Georgia Sport Medicine Welcomes New Sports Medicine Specialist

Georgia Sports Medicine (GSM) announced that sports medicine specialist Celestine Nnaeto, M.D., FACP, CAQSM has joined the practice to provide evaluations and treatment for non-surgical orthopedic conditions, athletic injuries, spine disorders and more.  

A service of Tift Regional Health System (TRHS), GSM’s other providers include orthopedic surgeons James Scott, M.D., William Smith, M.D., David Banks, M.D. and Kyle Fleck, M.D. as well as orthopedic spine surgeon Edward Hellman, M.D.

“We are excited to have Dr. Nnaeto on-board,” said Drew Dorminey, TRHS Director of the Orthopedic Service Line.  “He is a great compliment to our team of orthopedic surgeons, nurses, athletic trainers and therapists.  His goal is to help athletes stay-in-the-game and maximize performance.   Dr. Nnaeto’ s services include sports physicals, non-surgical orthopedic and spine interventions, sports-related concussion management and physical rehabilitation.”

Dr. Nnaeto is board-certified in primary care sports medicine and internal medicine.  He earned his medical degree and completed residency training at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey.  He followed with fellowship training in sports medicine at St. Luke’s University Health Network in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he later served as a faculty member and associate program director.  He also received training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

“I am excited about joining GSM and serving the residents of south central Georgia,” said Dr. Nnaeto.  “I have much experience in coordinating a multidisciplinary team of physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, speech language pathologists and occupational therapists in patient-centered care.”

Dr. Nnaeto said he offers diagnosis and treatment for pediatric and adult non-surgical fracture care as well as treatment of various sports and non-sports related musculoskeletal pathologies.  He also specializes in sports-related concussion management in all age groups.

“When it comes to sports medicine, I place a big emphasis on physician and athletic trainer communication regarding a patient’s care,” he said.

GSM is now housed at Tift Regional Health System’s new Musculoskeletal Center, located in Tifton at 2227 Highway 41 North, right next to Affinity Clinic.

“This is one state-of-the-art facility,” said Dr. Nnaeto.  “We have sports medicine, orthopedic surgical specialties, therapy services, chiropractic care and more under one roof.  Patients can receive world-class care close to home, work and family.”
