Staff Report From Tifton CEO

Friday, March 29th, 2019

Join registered dietitian Lauren Saxena, RD, LD, CLC for a free seminar titled "Managing Congestive Heart Failure and Heart Health through Nutrition" on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, 6:00 p.m., at the Tift Regional Community Events Center. This event is a part of the Tift Regional Health System Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Wellness Series.

Congestive heart failure (CHF) occurs when the heart does not pump efficiently and does not deliver enough oxygen to your body. Many diseases lead to CHF, such as high blood pressure and diseases of the heart and kidney. Healthy nutrition can help to prevent its complications and relieve its symptoms. The heart does not have to work as hard when you make some changes in your diet. If you eat too much salt or drink too much fluid, your body's water content may increase and make your heart work harder. This can worsen your CHF. Lauren will provide helpful tips and will take questions from the audience.

This event is free and open to the public. A complimentary meal is included. Seating is limited and registration is required. Register in the Calendar of Events section or call 229-353-6316. The Tift Regional Community Events Center is located in Tifton at 1657 S. Carpenter Road, adjoining the Tiftarea YMCA.
