Georgia Power employees from Tifton are supporting their city’s fire department as the summer heats up.

Last week, the local Citizens of Georgia Power employee volunteer group donated 360 bottles of water to the City of Tifton Fire Department.

“They had a severe shortage of water for the fire crews,” said Sabrina Rouse, a senior data coordinator at Georgia Power and leader in the local Citizens chapter. “If there’s one thing our line crews know a lot about, it is the South Georgia heat! We jumped into gear and bought several cases of water and delivered them to the local fire department.”

With more than 40 chapters statewide, Citizens of Georgia Power - the employee volunteer arm of the company – gives back to their local communities through in-person and virtual volunteer projects, fundraisers, and donations. In 2020, Citizens’ members logged more than 55,000 hours of service equal to $1.5 million.
