Former Tift County High Valedictorian Named President of ABAC Ambassadors

Staff Report From Tifton CEO

Thursday, June 7th, 2018

Kaycee Aultman has been selected as the 2018-19 president of the ABAC Ambassadors, one of the most prestigious student leadership organizations at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Aultman, the daughter of Stacy and Jerri Kaye Aultman, is a junior writing and communication major from Tifton who always knew she wanted to attend ABAC. During her years in the Tift County School System, she had multiple opportunities to visit the campus for events such as music festivals, the Scholastic Aptitude Test, and a Writer’s Workshop.  Each trip seemed to deepen her ABAC connection.

“ABAC is in my blood,” Aultman said. “Both my parents are ABAC alumni, and my mom was an Ambassador during her time at ABAC. Around the time I was born, my grandfather retired from ABAC as a maintenance supervisor. I have many reasons to love our green and gold.”

Aultman learned of the Ambassador program through her mother.  She also had friends in the program who encouraged her to apply after she graduated from Tift County High School as the valedictorian of the Class of 2016.  Aultman served as secretary of the Ambassadors during her freshman year and vice president during her sophomore year. She received the prestigious Distinguished Ambassador award this spring.

“Since joining the Ambassadors, I knew that I eventually wanted to become president,” Aultman said. “This group has shown me my place on campus, and I know that I have fourteen other friends who I can call on day or night. When I think of the Ambassadors, I think of family.”

In her two years as an ABAC Ambassador, Aultman said she has benefitted from amazing opportunities and is thankful to have that role as a campus leader continue.

“I know what it means to love what you do,” Aultman said, “and I plan to take the enthusiasm I have for my school and fellow Ambassadors to continue sharing our campus with prospective students.”

Besides the many duties the Ambassadors have involving the promotion of ABAC, Aultman plans to arrange fun activities. During her freshman year she orchestrated a “Murder Mystery” party for the group.

“We each arrived at the party dressed as a certain character, and then we had to act out a murder mystery story line,” Aultman said. “My group chose a scene themed around prohibition in the 1920s. We all had so much fun, and, as president, I plan for the Ambassadors to do more fun events like this in the coming months.”

Aultman, who has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average at ABAC, is active in other organizations around campus. She has been a member of Stallion Society and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society. In 2017, she served as a director for the Inter-Club Council meetings on campus. Aultman is also involved in community activities as a tutor for young students and as co-director of the children’s choir at Eastside Baptist Church.

Aultman will travel to Cebu, Philippines this summer for a week-long mission trip where she will work with Samaritan’s Purse and distribute shoe boxes filled with wonderful gifts for children as a part of the Operation Christmas Child ministry.

“This trip is something that I have been wanting to do my entire life,” Aultman said, “and I can’t wait to share God’s love with children on a completely different side of the world.”

As far as her plans after her graduation from ABAC, Aultman has not completely decided what road she will take. She plans to attend graduate school but has not decided on the exact degree she will pursue.

“My dream job is to write young adult fantasy books, but as for my ‘practical’ job, I am considering becoming a high school math teacher,” Aultman said.

Aultman will officially begin her term as president of the Ambassadors when fall semester classes begin at ABAC on Aug. 15.
