Sleigh bells will be ringing as the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Department of Fine Arts presents “A Christmas to Treasure” on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Tift Theatre in downtown Tifton.

Dr. Susan Roe, Head of the Department of Fine Arts, said the program features a variety of performances that each member of the audience will treasure for holiday seasons to come.

“The entire community is invited to join ABAC faculty, staff, and students for a night of holiday cheer,” Roe said.  “This concert is perfect for every member of the family.”

Trumpets will sound from the balcony as “A Christmas Fanfare,” arranged by ABAC music student Dany Artiga, begins the performance. Performers also include the ABAC Jazz Singers, Concert Choir, and Chamber Choir under the direction of Roe; the Concert Band under the direction of Johnny Folsom, Director of Music–bands and lecturer; and the Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Scott Phillips, assistant professor of jazz.

The Jazz Ensemble will perform “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” That number will be followed by the Jazz Choir and Jazz Combo performing “Jingle Bells” and “Merry Christmas to All.”

The ABAC Chamber Singers will perform “The First Noel” and “There is Faint Music,” before they are joined by the ABAC Band for “Hallelujah Chorus.” The ABAC Band will also perform “Carol of the Drum” and “Ukrainian Bell Carol.”

Alejandra Lopez and Logan Milner will perform “Pachelbel Canon for Piano Four Hands,” arranged by Dr. Jennifer Huang, assistant professor of music. Santa Claus, played by Dr. Jeff Kluball, Professor Emeritus of the former Darton College; will make a guest appearance to conduct the ABAC Band in “Jazzle Bells.”

Dr. Brian Ray, professor of English and Theater, will read “Twas the Night Before Christmas” to the children, and ABAC Arts Connection Director Wayne Jones will direct the audience and choir in “Joy to the World,” “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing,” “O Come all Ye Faithful,” and “Silent Night.”

Roe said that Santa Claus will also be available for photos with the children in the lobby after the performance.
