Staff Report From Tifton CEO

Sunday, November 11th, 2018

The Eastern Mvskoke (Muskogee) Demonstrators will showcase educational programs of traditional culture and dances of the Creek or Muskogee tribes from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Nov. 17 at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College’s Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village.

A Native American tour company, the Demonstrators travel across the Southeastern United States conducting reenactments and providing demonstrations.  The educational program includes stomp dancing demonstrations and discovering the Muskogee language.  Onlookers often become part of the dancing fun.

Museum visitors can also explore historic Southeastern Native American culture through visiting the Eastern Mvskoke Demonstrators 1750s fishing encampments.  Various members of the Demonstrators will set up their own areas, and visitors can meet with each of them.

Visitors can learn more about Muskogee culture and see demonstrations in bow making, basket weaving, twining, blow gun construction, candle dipping, canoe burning, and pottery making. The Museum’s steam-powered cotton gin will also be running on this day.

General admission for ABAC’s Museum of Agriculture on Nov. 17 is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, $5 for children 5–16 years of age, and free for children under five. For more information, interested persons can contact the Museum’s Country Store at (229) 391-5205.
