Free Community Care Day Resource Expo to be Held on March 14th

Staff Report From Tifton CEO

This year’s Community Care Day, an annual resource expo, will be held on Saturday, March 14 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Tift County Recreation Department. The annual event is free and open to the public, and attendees will have access to health and wellness information, medical screenings, refreshments, giveaways, and bouncy houses for children.

Beth Lewis, a planning committee member, said the goal of the event is to try and improve access and awareness about available resources in the community, particularly in the areas of fitness, disability, wellness, recreation, personal development, counseling, financial guidance, employment, education, and more.

“This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for organizations within the community to come together and help individuals and families learn more about the resources that are available to them,” Lewis said. “It’s always inspiring to see these organizations work together with the goal of supporting one another and meeting the needs of others within the community. It can be difficult for individuals and families to find resources they may need on their own, and we try to make that process a little easier with this event.”

While there will be lots of educational information at the event, there will also be fun activities the whole family can enjoy, like bouncy houses, costumed characters, healthy snacks, and giveaways.

“We encourage community members to bring the whole family out to the event for a day of fun,” Lewis said.

This event is sponsored by ABAC, the Jay Deason Fund, the Tift County Recreation Department, Southwell, the Tift County Health Department, the Tift County Commission on Children and Youth, Tift County, the Tiftarea Greenways Association, South Georgia GLRS, and the Tift County Board of Education.
