Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s Securities Division kicked off Financial Literacy Month by hosting “FinFit” at Dalton State University on Thursday. Building from the success of previous financial literacy events, Secretary Raffensperger is pushing the next generation of Georgians toward small-business success and entrepreneurship by engaging groups across Georgia on financial literacy and self-determination. Secretary Raffensperger’s goal of providing Georgia’s next generation with crucial financial management skills and an entrepreneurial mentality was celebrated on Thursday, with a standing-room only program that engaged all segments of campus.

“Financial literacy is the most important tool for a rock-solid financial future,” said Secretary Raffensperger. “Georgia will remain the #1 state for business because more and more Georgians are discovering programs offered by our office.”

The event will be moderated by Donna Lowry. Panelists for this event include Marguerite Pressley Davis, Founder & CEO, Finance Savvy CEO®, Angel Investor & Small Business Advisor; Tyler Hudson, Head Coach and Founder, Shankly Elite Training, LLC; Linden Jackson, America’s Financial Wellbeing Coach, Operation HOPE; Peter Matthews, Area Advisor, UGA SBDA; and Adam Shull, SVP, Chief Credit Officer, North Georgia National Bank.

“This event was an all-around success,” said Noula Zaharis, Assistant Commissioner of Securities. “The panel was so well-versed in their fields, and the students were engaged. I know that the attendees left with much greater confidence to establish their business goals.”

FIN FIT is a financial empowerment seminar series hosted by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger as part of his multi-faceted financial literacy effort and is administered through the Securities and Charities divisions of the Office of Secretary of State. These free programs feature industry leaders who discuss resources that can help increase attendees’ knowledge about money, their relationship to money, and financial issues and strategies for growing their wealth.

The office of the Secretary of State invites all Georgians to attend these free and informational events.
