SRTC Participates in Georgia Spring Leadership Conference and Competitions

The Georgia State Collegiate chapter of Future Business Leaders of America, along with the National Technical Honor Society and Georgia Student Government Association partnered to host the Georgia Spring Leadership Conference and Competitions in Atlanta this past weekend. Southern Regional Technical College was represented by 21 students and advisors. Competitions and state officer presentations were hosted throughout the next two days as the conference progressed. Award ceremonies began Saturday afternoon.

SRTC chapters of NTHS were recognized for their contribution of $223 to the literacy fundraiser that was held in the fall 2023 semester.

NTHS Outstanding Student of the Year was Pamela Wagner and NTHS Advisor of the Year was Carolyn Jones. Both of these honors are selected by the Georgia NTHS leadership team based on individual participation and dedication to the organization and communities. 

FBLA Collegiate named Micaela Miley and Santos Hernandez as FBLA Collegiate Who’s Who Members. This designation is awarded to students who are exemplary members and have made outstanding contributions to the association at a local, state, and national level.

SRTC students participated and placed in the following competitions:

— Chris Peppers of Boston, Sports Management and Marketing: 5th Place.

— Craig Hamilton of Camilla, Marketing Sales and Communication: 2nd Place.

— Destiny Madison of Thomasville, Foundations of Hospitality Management: 5th Place.

— Dolores Bradley of Tifton, Impromptu Speaking: 4th Place and NTHS Extemporaneous Speech: 3rd Place.

— Erica Langley of Moultrie, Management Case Competition: 1st Place and Foundations of Selling: 4th Place.

— Ivy Hill of Attapulgus, Accounting Case Competition: 2nd Place and Project Management: 3rd Place. 

— Megan Patel, Management Case Competition: 1st Place and Organizational Behavior and Leadership: 5th Place.

— Micaela Miley of Alapaha, Foundations of Communications: 2nd Place, Project Management: 2nd Place, and FBLA Who’s Who Student.

— Mirian Gutierrez-Villeda of Moultrie, Foundations of Finance: 3rd Place and Foundations of Entrepreneurship: 5th Place.

— Pamela Wagner of Tifton, NTHS Prepared Speech: 3rd Place and NTHS Outstanding Student.

— Renee Gray of Cairo, Business Presentation: 1st Place and NTHS Extemporaneous Speech: 1st Place.

— Santos Hernandez of Cairo, Accounting Case Competition: 2nd Place and FBLA Who’s Who Student.

— Stacy Lopes of Thomasville, Job Interview: 5th Place and NTHS Job Interview: 2nd Place.

FBLA 1st place winners Erica Langley, Megan Patel, and Renee Gray will have the opportunity to represent SRTC at the National FBLA Conference and Competition which will be held in Orlando, Florida, later this summer.

Additional participants were La’Kya Hill of Moultrie in GSGA Prepared Speech and Extemporaneous Speech, Nakira Dorsey of Alapaha in Organizational Behavior and Leadership and Retail Management, and Elaina Lee of Nashville in NTHS Job Interview.

SRTC offers over 150 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get students quickly into their desired career, and 28 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia. SRTC has instructional sites located in eleven counties across Southwest Georgia for the convenience of their students.
