Georgia's Rural Center to Study Health Care Simulation Center for South Georgia

The Center for Rural Prosperity and Innovation announced plans to evaluate the development of a regional medical education simulation and training center. The project’s goals are to build academic and clinical partnerships across south Georgia and to enhance experiential learning opportunities for students and providers while serving as a focal point and catalyst for the development, understanding and advancement of simulation and related technologies throughout the region.

Spring Semester Graduates Total 400 at ABAC

A total of 400 students completed the requirements for graduation from the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at the end of the 2019 Spring semester. Of those graduates, a total of 179 graduates received bachelor’s degrees. Among the graduates were 26 students who received their bachelor’s degrees in Agricultural Education, the first ever graduates in that field from ABAC.

Tifton SRTC Nursing Class Achieves 100% Pass Rate On Board Exams

Recent graduates from Southern Regional Technical College’s (SRTC) Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program in Tifton reported 100% passage on their National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). The NCLEX exam is a standardized exam that each state board of nursing uses to determine whether or not a candidate is prepared for entry-level nursing practice.

Georgia’s Unemployment Rate Falls Again in April

State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said that in April Georgia’s unemployment rate continued to fall. At the same time, claims for unemployment insurance were down when compared to last April. Nationally, the unemployment rate dropped to 3.6 percent in April. Georgia’s rate also fell to 3.8 percent, a drop of .1 percentage points.

This six-wheeled unit, about the size of a bus, will be used by Tift Regional Health System (TRHS) to better reach medically-underserved areas within the community.
