SRTC Enjoys Historic Enrollment; Outpaces State in Average Growth
Friday, February 1st, 2019
On Tuesday, January 30, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) announced it had achieved record enrollment once again. After the record-breaking Fall Semester enrollment of 2018, 2019’s Spring Semester enrollment reached a new historically high water mark. 4340 students enrolled in classes at SRTC in January of 2019, an increase of 16.9% from 2018’s Spring Semester at SRTC. This growth significantly outpaces the state’s average enrollment growth for technical colleges, which was 5.6% this semester.
“The administration at Southern Regional is excited to announce a record Spring Semester enrollment at our college. This follows the largest ever enrollment for SRTC this most recent Fall Semester. This record enrollment is once again attributed to the tireless devotion, dedication, and efforts of our entire faculty and staff in advising, teaching, and supporting students,” commented SRTC President Dr. Craig Wentworth as he congratulated SRTC faculty and staff on their hard work and commitment to excellence in technical education.
SRTC anticipates continued growth as the College’s programmatic offerings expand to meet the emergent needs of area business and industry. Pending SACSCOC approval, SRTC will soon be offering certifications for Registered Polysomnographic Technologists, Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) Operators, and Tool & Die Machinists. These careers are each in high demand in the Southwest Georgia region. “These programs will help to create more opportunities for our students and area businesses alike as we pursue our mission of developing a highly skilled workforce for our growing service delivery area,” continued Dr. Wentworth.
