11th Annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy Competition Kicks Off April 18th
Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022
The 11th annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy kicks off April 18th and runs through April 29th this year. The virtual competition is open to everyone in the Georgia legal community where law firms, legal organizations, and corporate/in-house counsels compete to make the biggest impact on hunger. Just last year, the state-wide competition raised $936,338 in hunger relief funds. Every dollar raised remains local and benefits one of the eight regional food banks that serve their Georgia neighbors.
Georgia Legal Food Frenzy is in partnership with the Office of the Attorney General, the State Bar of Georgia, the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, and the Georgia Food Bank Association.
As communities continue to recover from the peak of the pandemic, the Atlanta Community Food Bank is still seeing a need that exceeds pre-pandemic levels and expects to do so for the foreseeable future. The Food Bank continues to distribute approximately 20 to 30 percent more food each month to Georgians in metro Atlanta and North Georgia than pre-pandemic efforts. It takes the power of the whole community to reach more neighbors looking for food assistance and that is why the 11th annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy is incredibly important.
Last year, over 140 Atlanta-area law firms participated which resulted in a record breaking $711,910 for the Atlanta Community Food Bank, enough for over 2.8 million meals. Since its inception, the event has raised over $3 million in hunger relief funds in the Atlanta area which is the equivalent of over 12 million meals.
“Over the last eleven years, the legal community has shown tremendous support for Georgia’s food banks through Georgia Legal Food Frenzy’s outstanding efforts,” said Kyle Waide, president and CEO of Atlanta Community Food Bank. “The need for food assistance persists for too many of our neighbors; Georgia Legal Food Frenzy is a great opportunity for members of the legal community to raise awareness and critical funds for local hunger relief. We are looking forward to another successful year of helping hungry Georgians in need.”
