Airports Council International (ACI) World announced the top 10 busiest airports worldwide, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) again has landed at No. 1. In 2021, ATL served more passengers and conducted more aircraft movements than any other airport in the world.
As verified by ACI, preliminary data for total passenger traffic rankings show that in 2021, ATL served 75,704,760 passengers, a 76.4 percent increase over 2020’s total. ATL also tops the world in aircraft movements, with 707,661 operations, a 29.1 percent increase since 2020.
“These numbers speak to the resiliency and spirit of Atlanta and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport,” said Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. “We thank our Airport employees and passengers who continued to stand with us as we worked through the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19.”
“We are thrilled to see the overwhelming increase in passenger traffic and are proud to be the busiest passenger and flight operations airport in the world,” said Airport General Manager Balram “B” Bheodari. “As the aviation industry continues to rebound from the pandemic, we are excited to welcome passengers back to the skies. Our efficiency and brand of excellence could not be achieved without our employees, business partners, stakeholders and our community.”
