ABAC Receives $790k In Federal Funding To Support Elementary Education Classroom Infrastructure

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) has secured $790,000 in congressionally-directed spending through U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff to support classroom infrastructure for its new elementary education program, set to launch in fall 2026.
The federal funding reflects bipartisan collaboration to strengthen ABAC’s efforts to prepare highly qualified teachers for rural school districts across Georgia. The measure was included in federal legislation signed into law by President Donald Trump on Feb. 3, 2026.
Through this investment, ABAC will enhance its instructional facilities with modern classroom technology and equipment designed to support hands-on, experiential learning. These upgrades will expand the college’s capacity to train future educators and help address the growing demand for teachers in rural south Georgia communities.
Sen. Ossoff highlighted the bipartisan support behind the initiative. “Bringing Republicans and Democrats together, I’m delivering resources to ensure south Georgia teachers are trained with the skills to help every child in Georgia succeed,” Ossoff said.
ABAC President Tracy Brundage expressed appreciation for the leadership of Sen. Ossoff and the support of Georgia’s federal delegation and the collaborative effort that made the funding possible.
“We are grateful for this investment in ABAC and in the future of rural education,” Brundage said. “This grant strengthens our new elementary education degree through enhanced classroom technology and hands-on training that prepares our students to lead on day one in their own classrooms.” Brundage continued, “As teacher shortages continue to impact communities like Tifton, Bainbridge, and surrounding areas, ABAC is proud to be part of the solution by developing well-prepared, influential educators for schools across Georgia.”
