19th Annual Nanci Bowen Golf Tournament May 10th

The 19th Annual Nanci Bowen Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, May 10 at the Spring Hill Country Club in Tifton. Hosted by retired golf pro and local native Nanci Bowen, all proceeds benefit patients of the Tift Regional Health System (TRHS) Oncology Center and Hospice of Tift Area with special needs. Bowen is a retired Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tour player. Originally from Tifton, she attended the University of Georgia on a full golf scholarship and joined the LPGA immediately after graduating in 1989 with an undergraduate degree in public relations.
Bowen’s professional golf career was highlighted in 1995 with a win at the Nabisco Dinah Shore, one of the LPGA’s four major championships. Other notable achievements included two runner-up finishes in 1997 at the Rochester International and the Susan G. Komen International, plus numerous top ten finishes at LPGA tournaments between 1994 and 2005. For 16 years, Bowen not only competed but also was heavily involved in the business operations of the LPGA Tour organization headquartered in Daytona Beach, Fla., including service on its board of directors. She was elected to the executive committee in 1999 and served as vice president in 2001. She still serves on the organization’s Dolores Hope LPGA Financial Assistance Initiative Committee. Women's tee-off is at 9 am. Men's tee-off is at 1 pm. Interested participants can enter as a player, form a team or sign-up as a corporate sponsor. Fees are: $400 (team).
