For Summer Semester 2018, which began on May 27th, the Southern Regional Technical College Foundation awarded 69 scholarships totaling over $28,000 to SRTC students. These funds assist students with education related costs such as tuition, fees, clinical scrubs, dissection kits, books, and much more.

“The SRTC Foundation is proud to offer a variety of scholarships each semester. Scholarships provide the necessary financial support to students who need additional assistance with tuition, books, and other fees. By offering more scholarships for students, the Foundation and the College hope to improve the job skills, technical training, and educational level of the citizens of the communities we serve.  These funds are only made available because of the generosity of our donors. We sincerely thank and appreciate each of you. Without you, many of our students would not be able to afford books, tuition, or program related supplies,” commented Amy Maison, Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Marketing and Public Relations.

The SRTC Foundation is a non-profit corporation whose mission is to promote the cause of higher education and expand educational opportunities to the students of SRTC. The Foundation strives to create scholarships and endowments and assist in the financing of capital improvements and other college-related expenses. A few of the scholarships offered and awarded this semester were-

The Melody Griffin Kennedy Memorial Scholarship was created in August 2016 by her friends and family to honor her memory. This scholarship is designed to assist students with tuition, books, fees, and required education related expenses such as uniforms, massage table, or health examinations. The scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the Neuromuscular Massage Therapy program who maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.

The Joe Barron scholarship was created in honor of Joe Barron who recently retired from Archbold Medical Center. One $500 scholarship is awarded each semester to a student who has earned a minimum 2.0 GPA and is currently enrolled in the Radiologic Technology degree program at Southern Regional Technical College- Thomasville.

Owner and operator of Moultrie Tire Pros, Rodney Traylor, is providing one $500 scholarship each semester to an SRTC Automotive student on any SRTC campus. Since opening in 1956, the Traylor family has provided our customers with the best replacement tires and automotive services. Moultrie Tire Pros serves the Georgia communities of Moultrie, Thomasville, Sylvester and Tifton. Mr. Traylor would love for students to train locally and work locally. Students can utilize this scholarship to cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, and other educational expenses. The county-specific scholarships were designed to help students from SRTC’s seven county service delivery area, consisting of Colquitt, Grady, Mitchell, Thomas, Tift, Turner and Worth counties.
