Eight ABAC Faculty Members Promoted; Seven Granted Tenure

Eight members of the faculty at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College have been approved for promotion, according to Dr. Jerry Baker, ABAC Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Seven faculty members have also been granted tenure at the college.
Those faculty members receiving promotions include Dr. George Lowerts, Dr. Justin Ng, Dr. Bonnie Asselin, Dr. Jordan Cofer, Dr. Cyndi Hall, Dr. Russell Pryor, Tammy Carter, and Yvonne Smith.
Lowerts, Ng, Pryor, Dr. Joseph Falcone, Amanda Urquhart, Rhonda Lewis, and Jeannie Paulk are receiving tenure from ABAC. Tenure may be granted to a faculty member who has served at least five years as an assistant professor and has shown the potential for making significant contributions to the college and in the faculty member’s field of study.
Lowerts and Ng have been promoted to the rank of associate professor in the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Asselin, Cofer, and Hall have been promoted to the rank of professor in the School of Arts and Sciences. Pryor has been promoted to the rank of associate professor in the School of Arts and Sciences. Carter and Smith have been promoted to the rank of assistant professor in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Falcone is the Department Head for Science and Mathematics and a professor in the School of Arts and Sciences, and Urquhart is an assistant professor in the School of Arts and Sciences. Lewis and Paulk are assistant professors in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Baker said the promotions and tenure become effective Aug. 1. ABAC fall semester classes begin on Aug. 15.
