A veteran performer at both the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, Dr. Zheng Jennifer Huang will bring her piano talents to Howard Auditorium on the campus of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on March 14 for a faculty recital.  The 7 p.m. concert is open to the public at no charge.

Now serving as an assistant professor of music at ABAC, Huang teaches both piano and general music courses.  A native of China, she has performed numerous recitals and concerts as a pianist and harpsichordist in solo performances and chamber music ensembles in Asia, Europe, and the United States.

Huang was the second place finisher in the 1996 Hong Kong Open Piano Competition for Asian Musicians.  She has performed at the Weil Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.

As a concert harpsichordist, Huang has performed solo harpsichord concertos as well as other Baroque vocal and instrumental works with the Oberlin Baroque Orchestra, the Boston Baroque Orchestra and the Mannes Baroque Chamber Orchestra.

Huang’s selections on March 14 will include “Sonatine pour le Piano” by Maurice Ravel, “Piano Sonata op. 13” by Ludwig Van Beethoven, “Ballade No. 2, Op. 38” by Frederic Chopin, “Three Preludes” by George Gershwin, and “Autumn Moon Over the Calm Lake” by Wen Cheng Lv.

Huang received a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, dual master’s degrees in piano and harpsichord performance from the Mannes School of Music in New York, and a doctorate in musical arts from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

The concert is presented by the School of Arts and Sciences at ABAC.
