On Wednesday, November 13, Mr. Fred Rudbeck, Bainbridge Area Manager with Georgia Power, presented a check for $2,500 from the Georgia Power Foundation to the Southern Regional Technical College Foundation. The funds will be used to support Electrical Construction and Maintenance educational programs on SRTC’s Bainbridge campus.

SRTC’s School of Industrial Technology offers eight programs in Electrical Construction and Maintenance. These programs include four certificate options in wiring and maintenance, three diploma paths in electrical technology, and an Associate’s degree in Electrical Systems Technology. The degree program provides instruction in the inspection, maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. A combination of theory and practical application is emphasized in order to develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills.

The Electrical Systems Technology degree program is only offered on SRTC's newest campus in Bainbridge, which the school acquired in 2015 from the former Bainbridge State College. As SRTC grows and builds a presence in Bainbridge, the Electrical Construction and Maintenance department has helped draw students from not only Decatur County, but from surrounding counties, as well. For the 2018-2019 academic year, SRTC enrolled 35 students in the new Associate’s degree program. If on-track for completion, these 35 students will graduate with the necessary skills for apprenticeships and employment with companies like Georgia Power in just five semesters.
