Lori Brown Ewing from Dacula has been selected as the 2020 Outstanding Healthcare Professional Award recipient by the ABAC Alumni Association at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.  This award is normally presented at the Alumni Awards Luncheon at Homecoming each April but was postponed due to the pandemic. The event will be rescheduled, possibly during the fall term. 

The Outstanding Health Care Professional Award recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves through professional achievement, community service, and service to the College in the various areas of health care including but not limited to medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, and health care administration.

Ewing, a 1987 ABAC graduate and a former Tifton resident, received an Associate of Science degree before earning a Bachelor of Physical Therapy degree from the Medical College of Georgia. She currently serves as a physical therapist in the home care department of the St. Mary’s Healthcare System.

During the 22 years that Ewing has been employed at St. Mary’s, she has treated thousands of patients ranging from newborns to senior citizens seeking a better quality of life.  Ewing also serves as a preceptor in the Home Care Department on the Core Values Committee. This role allows her to align new staff members with the team goal of providing the highest level of care.  She states in her philosophy of healthcare that the best way to help a patient improve physically is by establishing a personal connection with them. 

Earlier in her career, Ewing spent time working with other rehabilitation facilities throughout Georgia. 

She invests in her community by serving as an Executive Board Member for Choose Bravery, as the Chair for the Twin Tigers Karate Academy Strategic Planning Committee, and by supporting the American Kidney Foundation.

Ewing’s daughter, Kaylee, graduated in the ABAC Class of 2016, continuing the family tradition of attending ABAC.
