Acclaimed jazz trumpeter Scotty Barnhart brings his extraordinary talents to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on Thursday as the final show in the ABAC Presents! Series. The concert will be held at 7 p.m. at Howard Auditorium on the ABAC Campus.
Barnhart is in his 20th year with the legendary Count Basie Orchestra and has been appointed the group’s new director. Acknowledged as one of the leading authorities on the history of the jazz trumpet, he researched and wrote the groundbreaking book “The World of Jazz Trumpet – A Comprehensive History and Practical Philosophy.”
When not touring with the Count Basie Orchestra or teaching at Florida State University, he performs with his own quintet-sextet and lectures and demonstrates at schools, colleges, universities, and conferences around the world, spreading jazz music to ensure its future for others to explore and enjoy.
The ABAC Presents! Performing Arts Series is the school’s flagship series that showcases world-class artists. Each event and performance is carefully selected to enhance the study of arts for ABAC students and all students across the area. These fabulous offerings also present high-quality arts experiences to the entire South Georgia community.
Tickets for the show are $20 for adults, $10 for youth and can be purchased at artsatabac.com/abac-presents.
