Girls on the Run of South Georgia Opens Spring 2024 Season

Girls on the Run South Georgia opened their spring season with coach training on Sunday, Jan. 28. Over 60 volunteer coaches from Berrien, Brooks, Decatur, Hamilton (FL), Lowndes, Mitchell and Thomas counties gathered to learn how to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident through team building, group activities and goal setting.

Girls on the Run South Georgia has been inspiring girls in South Georgia since 2015 impacting the lives of more than 2400 girls. This season, Girls on the Run will be offered at Berrien Elementary, Berrien Middle, Hahira Elementary, Hahira Middle, Hamilton County High (Hamilton), Lake Park Elementary, Lowndes Middle, Mitchell County Elementary, Pine Grove Elementary, Pinevale Elementary, Quitman Elementary, S.L. Mason Elementary, Sallas Mahone Elementary, Scintilla Charter Academy, Spring Creek Charter Academy (Decatur), St. John’s Catholic School, Thomas County Middle (Thomas), Valwood School, Westside Elementary, J.L. Lomax. The life-changing program has research-based lessons that use dynamic discussions and fun running games to teach life skills.

“Girls are born with potential, power, and purpose. Our program inspires participants to know and activate that potential, not just for the length of our season, but for life,” said Mary Crawford, Executive Director of Girls on the Run South Georgia.

The program fee for the spring 2024 season is $160, and scholarship funding is available. The program fee includes a program shirt, a Girls on the Run water bottle and registration for the end-of-season 5K event that brings together family, friends and community members to celebrate the girls’ growth throughout the season at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, Valdosta campus, on Apr 27, 2024.
