Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College’s Georgia Museum of Agriculture is celebrating the beginning of summer with a Summer Celebration on Saturday, June 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Summer Celebration will feature fun, family-friendly activities focused on providing enjoyment for all ages. From an antique tractor show and parade to an inflatable obstacle course or visiting with friendly, cute animals, there will be activities for everyone.

Throughout the Historic Village, costumed docents will provide demonstrations, interpretations, and lead guests in historical games and contests. Interpreters will provide demonstrations on lost arts such as coopering (the fabrication of wooden barrels and storage vessels) to blacksmithing and rope making. Village interpreters will also guide guests in activities that test their skills such as hatchet throwing or watermelon seed spitting.
A celebration of summer would not be complete without tasty watermelon. Throughout the Historic Village and Destination Ag area, watermelon slices will be available for guests while supplies last.

The Museum’s Destination Ag area will have a kid’s zone featuring activities geared towards younger guests, including big tractors, an inflatable obstacle course from Jumpin’ J’s and facepainting from Happy Sunrise Facepainting. Also located in that area will be all of Destination Ag ’s animals including sheep, goats, chickens, and of course ‘Ernest’ the Gopher Tortoise. Visitors can also stop by the Langdale Nature Center to visit with snakes, turtles, frogs, toads, and a possum.

The Village Drug Store, Museum Country Store, Scoop Dawgs Snack Shack, and Los Authentic Tamales will have everything from Birria Tacos and funnel cakes to hand-dipped ice cream and chili dogs. There will be savory options and sweet treats to satisfy even the most discerning taste buds.

The GMA Art Gallery will be featuring "Special Art from Special Folks: Art of Autism 2." The project, built with art made by local artists of all ages and abilities, provides a safe and celebratory space for artists with various special needs to showcase their work.

The Wiregrass Farmer’s Market will also be open, with local growers and producers offering fresh produce, hand-made goods, and more. The market is located under the pole barn behind the Country Store.
