Veteran coach Blake Williams has been hired as the head coach at the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College baseball program, the college announced Thursday.

Williams comes to ABAC after 13 years as the head coach of the Andrew College Tigers. During that time, he earned 307 wins and won the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association titles in 2021 and 2023. His 2023 team also won the NJCAA Appalachian District title and competed in the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.

“I’m grateful for this opportunity and to the Athletic Director Coach (Charles) Wimberly and the administration,” Williams said. “With the program’s transition to the NAIA and the Southern States Athletic Conference, it’s an exciting time for this program and I look forward to being a part of the ABAC family.”

A native of Oconee County, Williams began his coaching career at Emanuel College where he was an assistant for two years. He served two more years as an assistant coach at Andrew College before his promotion to head coach.

“Blake brings a lot of veteran leadership to ABAC,” Wimberly said. “He’s a proven winner and he has contacts throughout the state and the country. As a coach and as a person, he’ll be a great fit here and help our student-athletes be the best they can possibly be.”

“My job is for our players to get every ounce out of their ability and compete at the highest level,” Williams said. “Having a family atmosphere is important, creating a situation where our players are close to each other and grind it out every day. If we do those things, we’ll be successful.”

Williams and his wife Kayla have three daughters – Kori (10), Payton (9) and Ryleigh (3).
