ABAC Presents! Series Opening with Acoustic Band Young Original on Oct. 3
Monday, September 23rd, 2024
The opening concert of the ABAC Presents! series will feature Nashville, Tenn., based acoustic band Young Original on Thursday, October 3.
Young Original brings a unique fusion of jazz, classical, folk, and pop influences to classic American music. They have performed across the United States and their original song “Doubt Your Love” was featured on NPR.
“Young Original is one of the most musically dynamic groups I’ve seen in a long time,” said Wayne Jones, Arts Connection Director. “These are all tremendous musicians whose dynamic take on this kind of music you really can’t miss.”
Since forming in 2022, their dynamic performance videos have racked up millions of views online, and their live concerts have taken them across the United States, performing at the acclaimed Rudy’s Jazz Room in Nashville, Tenn., the exclusive Claremont Hotel in Southwest Harbor, Maine, and the historic halls of the University of Pittsburgh.
Each member of Young Original is an accomplished performer, and the concert will feature mastery of the piano, guitar, mandolin, dobro, accordion and cello, as well as vocal harmonies. Benjamin Morren is a pianist and composer who plays too many instruments to count; Silas Johnson started cello lessons at age three and has performed with The Johnson Strings to sold out crowds; and Joe Xiques is a music producer and creative director who has travelled the world playing bluegrass music on a plethora of instruments.
The opening concert will be followed by "Voices of Ireland” featuring original Celtic Woman member Chloe Agnew on November 12, and the series will continue in 2025 with Paragon Ragtime Orchestra on February 18, the Atlanta Shakespeare Company’s performance of “Romeo and Juliet” on March 11, and the season will end with a jazz concert on April 17 featuring trombonist Robert Edwards and jazz vocalist Vanessa Perea performing with the ABAC Jazz Ensemble.
