Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) maintains one of the largest dual enrollment programs in the entire Technical College System of Georgia, serving over 2,700 unduplicated students across 20 high schools in its 11-county service area and generating nearly 30,000 credit hours annually.

SRTC's High School Coordinators represented the college at the Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education (GACTE) conference in Athens, June 15-20. Working alongside high school partners throughout the region, these coordinators are strengthening the vital pathways that connect students from the classroom to their future careers.

The college reported a remarkable 46% increase in dual enrollment participation from summer 2024 to summer 2025, while also achieving consistent growth throughout the academic year with 6.4% increases in dual enrollment headcount for both fall 2024 and spring 2025 semesters.

The college is expanding its reach into local high schools by offering more occupational courses to high school students during the summer. Due to exceptional student demand during the fall and spring semesters, Worth County High School extended an invitation for SRTC to conduct courses on-site throughout the summer session.

SRTC offers comprehensive dual enrollment options, including 38 general education courses in Early College Essentials and Interdisciplinary Studies that seamlessly transfer to all University System of Georgia institutions. Students can save thousands of dollars by completing prerequisites locally before transferring to their college of choice.

“Dual enrollment gives students a competitive advantage by allowing them to explore career options while earning valuable college credit," said Leigh Wallace, Executive Vice President and Vice President of Student Affairs. "Whether students pursue a four-year degree or enter the workforce directly, our dual enrollment students consistently demonstrate high levels of academic preparedness and confidence. The program creates a solid foundation that benefits students throughout their professional lives.”

SRTC's diverse dual enrollment catalog includes established programs in Barbering, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice Technology, Early Childhood Care and Education, Electrical Systems Technology, Emergency Medical Responder, Mechatronics, Nurse Aide, Practical Nursing, and Welding. The college continues to innovate with newly added specialized courses, including Gas Tungsten Arc Welder at multiple high schools, Cyber Crime Specialist at SRTC’s Moultrie, Tifton, and Bainbridge campuses, Basic Jail/Detention Officer at SRTC-Moultrie, and Advertising Layout Specialist at Mitchell County High School.

Students may choose to enroll fully in a degree, diploma, or technical certificate of credit program, or they may select individual courses. Participating in the Dual Enrollment program provides an excellent incentive for high school students to get ahead on their college coursework while still completing their high school education.
