The Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) Foundation is pleased to announce the 5th Annual Comedy for a Cause fundraiser, which will take place on the evening of February 21, 2026, at The Biscuit Company in Thomasville, Georgia. Comedy for a Cause will feature comedians Mike Speenberg and Karen Morgan in a ninety-minute comedy show, preceded by drinks, a dinner catered by JB Crumbs, and a presentation honoring distinguished SRTC alumni.
Check-Mate Industries and Thomasville National Bank (TNB) are the 2026 presenting partners, supporting the SRTC Foundation's mission to provide financial support to enhance student learning. "We are extremely excited to welcome both Check-Mate Industries and Thomasville National Bank as presenting partners of Comedy for a Cause," said SRTC's Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, Christina Reneau. "Both organizations have demonstrated exceptional dedication to our community and our students. Their unwavering commitment and continued support of our mission make a tremendous difference in the lives of SRTC students, and we are deeply grateful for their partnership."
Mike Speenberg is a seasoned comedian with a truly impressive career. Mike has been featured on FOX, CNN, Comedy Central, DryBar Comedy, Pureflix, and the Armed Forces Radio. His DryBar Comedy Special has been viewed over 10 million times, and his live album, Pizza and Corn, reached number four on Apple Music's Comedy Albums chart. Mike has also traveled extensively to perform for U.S. military personnel and worked with major corporate clients like Lockheed Martin, Carnival Cruise Lines, and The Chipper Jones’ Foundation.
Karen Morgan grew up in Athens, Georgia, traded in her law books for a microphone, and now delivers clean, clever comedy to audiences nationwide. With two Dry Bar Comedy specials Go Dawgs! and Rub Some Dirt On It (named one of Dry Bar’s Top 10 Clips of 2023) and a third on the way, she’s quickly becoming a favorite in the world of smart, nostalgic humor. Her latest album, Shiny Happy People Laughing, is featured exclusively on Sirius XM’s comedy channels. Whether she’s sharing stories about motherhood, marriage, or life in Maine, Karen connects with audiences of all ages.
The SRTC Foundation’s Comedy for a Cause events have grown in popularity and success each year. The 2025 event generated over $36,000 through sponsorships, ticket sales, and donations. We are excited by this annual event’s tremendous community support,’ said Reneau. “Each semester, the Foundation offers SRTC students dozens of scholarship opportunities, awarding our students over $200,000 in scholarships annually. We are tremendously grateful for the generous local support that allows us to alleviate our students’ financial burdens.”
