Libba Johnson of Rebecca, Ga., has been named the 2026 recipient of the Miles A. Drummond Rising Star Award, an honor recognizing young alumni who demonstrate early impact through leadership, service and community engagement.

The award, renamed in 2019 to honor the late Alumni Association Board member, highlights graduates ages 30 and younger who show a strong commitment to making a difference soon after leaving Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

The award was presented by Jazmin Thomas-Pullen, 2014 ABAC graduate and friend of Drummond, the award’s namesake.

Johnson serves as a marketing communication specialist for South Georgia Banking Company, where she began working part-time while completing her degree in agricultural communication at ABAC. In her current role, she oversees the organization’s social media presence, helping expand its reach through strategic content, advertising and creative campaigns.

“Libba has demonstrated exceptional talent, dedication and growth that have made her an invaluable asset to our team,” said Maghan Campbell, marketing director for South Georgia Banking Company.

Johnson is known for her ability to manage multiple initiatives while maintaining a high standard of quality. She collaborates across departments to lead projects from initial planning through completion, contributing to the bank’s visibility and engagement in the community.

In addition to her professional achievements, Johnson is recognized for her strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude. She fosters meaningful connections with both colleagues and customers and is widely respected for her professionalism and willingness to learn.

Her commitment to service extends beyond the workplace. Johnson is an active Georgia 4-H volunteer and serves as a board adviser, mentoring young leaders and assisting with speech preparation and leadership development.

She also remains engaged with ABAC by supporting student organizations through sponsorship efforts, participating in career fairs, and community events and returning to campus as a guest speaker for Ag Communicators of Tomorrow.

Johnson’s accomplishments reflect the purpose of the Rising Star Award, highlighting individuals who show strong potential, leadership and dedication early in their careers.

Johnson was recognized on April 10 during the 2026 Alumni Association awards program.
