Georgia has been spotlighted as a leader in providing transparent and accessible education data to the public by the National Governors Association (NGA).

NGA invited the Georgia Department of Education to share its work creating Georgia Insights, a one-stop repository of interactive data tools and visualizations designed to help stakeholders easily access data on the performance of Georgia's public schools, with other states. Two specific GaDOE dashboards were lifted up as models: Reading Readiness dashboard, which provides information on student literacy outcomes, and CTAE Advantage, which showcases the impact of Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education programs on academic achievement and workforce development.

Georgia Insights was designed to provide a central hub for educators, policymakers, and community members to access data on Georgia public schools. The site features easy-to-use data dashboards, visualizations, and downloadable files and reports to support data-driven decision-making. Users can also use the site to request additional data.

"Good information helps people make good decisions," State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. "That's true in education just like anywhere else. We created Georgia Insights to make sure families, educators, policymakers, and communities can clearly see where students are succeeding, where support is needed, and how we can work together to improve outcomes for every child. Transparency matters, and what matters even more is using that information to take meaningful action on behalf of students."

Georgia Insights is being spotlighted as part of the Policy Academy to Advance Data Dashboards Measuring Student & System Success, an initiative of the National Governors Association's Center for Best Practices.

The 18-month project supports state and territory efforts to launch dashboards tracking measures of student and system success across academics, workforce and postsecondary readiness, civic preparation, and student experience and wellbeing.
