Georgia DOT Awards 31 Projects Worth $100.7M in Contracts for July

The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded a total of 31 projects valued at approximately $100.7 million at the monthly State Transportation Board meeting held in July. Contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on July 31, 2026.
The largest single investment safety project, valued at approximately $16.1 million, proposes intersection improvements at various locations on US 278/State Route (SR) 6 (Thornton Road) in Douglas County. The project also includes construction of a bridge and approaches over Sweet Water Creek. This contract and 10 other safety projects total approximately $37.1 million and represent 37 percent of the total funds awarded.
The largest single investment resurfacing project, valued at approximately $4.9 million, proposes 7.05 miles of milling, inlay, and plant mix resurfacing on SR 2 beginning east of SR 515/SR 17 and extending over the Hiawassee River in Towns County. This contract and 12 other resurfacing projects total approximately $32.3 million and represent 32 percent of the total funds awarded.
The largest single investment construction project, valued at approximately $10.2 million, proposes 0.35 mile of construction on McCaysville Bypass beginning at SR 5 Connector and extending to the Tennessee state line in Fannin County. This contract and four other construction projects total approximately $24.7 million and represent 24 percent of the total funds awarded.
The largest single investment bridge rehabilitation contract, valued at approximately $5.9 million, proposes bridge rehabilitation at various locations in DeKalb County. This contract and one other bridge rehabilitation project total approximately $6.7 million and represent the remaining seven percent of the total funds awarded.
The Award Announcement list for July (includes withdrawn and deferred projects). Bids for Design-Bid-Build projects were received on July 17, and contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on July 31, 2026.
Three Supplemental Award Announcements occurred, all from June, one awarded July 22, one awarded July 30, and the final one awarded on July 31. The supplemental agreements include previously deferred projects that have now been awarded. Contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders.
The July awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2027, which began on July 1, 2026, to approximately $162.2 million. This total includes TIA, Design-Bid-Build, and locally administered projects. Fiscal Year 2027 will conclude June 30, 2027.
Contractors and consultants, including Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), registered small businesses and veteran-owned small businesses interested in bidding on projects or performing work must prequalify with Georgia DOT.
