The group began with a sip-and-paint event. A nervous Sveide received encouragement from Rose, and their friendship grew as the two painted together whenever Sveide visited from Sweden.

Eventually, Rose and Sveide formed the Tuesday Colorists, and Compton and McCall later joined them. Their evenings spent painting are filled with friendship, laughter, tears, and the warmth of shared creativity.

“Like a golden thread woven through their canvases, the Colorists' friendship is visible in the art they have created separately, yet together,” said Polly Huff, curator and archivist of ABAC’s GMA. “Over time, each of the four artists has cultivated deep audience respect, and the four have blossomed into creative powerhouses,” Huff added.

“Tapestry: The Tuesday Colorists” opens at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, with a reception featuring a gallery talk with the four artists, a tour of the exhibit and a giveaway featuring a print from each of the Colorists.

The show will continue as a GMA exhibit through Dec. 12. Exhibit hours are Wednesday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Huff said each of the four Colorists has created ten pieces for this exhibition, representing their individual interpretation of a subject.

Works created by the Tuesday Colorists will be available for sale. Following opening night, admission to this special exhibition will be included with the Georgia Museum of Agriculture's daily admission price.
