The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has received four 2026 P3 Awards, earning international recognition for innovative transportation and broadband infrastructure projects that are helping shape Georgia's future. The honors were presented during the annual P3 Awards ceremony in New York City on October 1, recognizing excellence and innovation in P3s across the Americas.

The P3 Awards are widely regarded as one of the infrastructure industry's highest honors, celebrating the projects, organizations, and individuals advancing P3s throughout North and South America. Georgia DOT received awards in the following categories:

  • Best Road, Bridge & Tunnel Project -  State Route (SR) 400 Express Lanes project
  • Best Transportation Project – SR 400 Express Lane project
  • Best Financial Structure – SR 400 Express Lanes project
  • Best Utilities Project  –  Statewide Broadband Operations, Maintenance, and Commercialization (OMC) project

"Receiving four P3 Awards is an extraordinary honor and a testament to Georgia DOT's commitment to innovation, strategic partnerships, and responsible investment in infrastructure," said Georgia DOT Commissioner Russell R. McMurry, P.E. "These projects demonstrate how creative Public-Private Partnerships can help us deliver transformative transportation and connectivity solutions that improve quality of life and support Georgia's continued growth."

The SR 400 Express Lanes project represents one of the most ambitious transportation infrastructure investments in Georgia's history. The project will deliver new express lanes along one of metro Atlanta's most heavily traveled corridors, improving mobility, enhancing travel-time reliability, and supporting long-term economic growth throughout the region. The project was recognized not only for its transportation benefits, but also for its innovative financial structure and delivery approach.

Georgia DOT's Statewide Broadband OMC project received the award for Best Utilities Project. The initiative leverages the department's extensive fiber-optic infrastructure to expand connectivity opportunities across the state while maximizing the value of existing transportation assets.

The awards underscore Georgia DOT's leadership in using P3s to advance critical infrastructure investments. By combining public-sector oversight with private-sector expertise and innovation, Georgia DOT continues to deliver projects that strengthen transportation networks, expand connectivity, and create long-term value for Georgia taxpayers.

"These awards reflect the hard work and dedication of Georgia DOT employees and our many public and private-sector partners," said Tim Matthews, P.E., Georgia DOT P3 Division Director. "Together, we are delivering solutions that will benefit Georgians for generations to come."
