Georgia Gas Prices Ease, but Drivers Still Pay 94 Cents More Than Last Year

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, October 13th, 2026

Drivers are getting a break at the pump as Georgia gas prices continue to decline, but relief remains limited. Even with Hurricane Isaias impacting the region, the state largely escaped the sharp price spikes often associated with major storms. Still, fuel costs remain elevated, leaving many Georgia families feeling the strain. The state average currently sits at $3.81 per gallon, subject to overnight changes.

“Drivers are seeing some relief at the pump as gas prices move lower, despite the tropical storm-like weather from Hurricane Isaias,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Georgia's average remains below $4 per gallon and below the national average, but fuel costs continue to affect household budgets. Comparing prices and using fuel rewards programs can help drivers save.”

Compared to recent benchmarks:

  • 5 cents lower than last week
  • 17 cents lower than last month
  • 94 cents higher than last year

For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline, the cost is approximately $57.15.

National Gas Prices Edge Lower, But October Costs Remain Elevated

The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline dipped 1 cent from last week to $4.35. While pump prices are slowly easing, fuel costs remain unusually high for October, marking the first time the national average has stayed above $4 per gallon this late in the year. Crude oil prices have climbed back above $90 per barrel after a brief decline, which could slow further relief at the pump. Although Hurricane Isaias has passed without causing significant fuel supply disruptions, drivers are still paying more than they typically would for this time of year.

Fuel-Saving Tips for Drivers

  • Maintain your vehicle to ensure the best fuel economy. Find a trusted automotive facility at AAA.com/Auto Repair.
  • Combine errands to minimize driving time.
  • Slow down. Fuel economy diminishes significantly at highway speeds above 50 mph. Drive conservatively and avoid aggressive driving. Aggressive acceleration and speeding can reduce fuel economy.
