Southwell Encourages Area Residents to Schedule Appointments and Procedures before Deductibles Reset to Zero in January
Wednesday, September 4th, 2024
Fall has arrived and Southwell is encouraging the community to schedule a doctor’s visit, test, or elective procedure before health insurance deductibles reset to zero in January.
Southwell includes Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC) and the TRMC West Campus in Tifton, Southwell Medical and Southwell Health and Rehabilitation in Adel, and more than 35 physician clinics and outpatient centers located throughout the region.
“If you have met, or almost met, your deductible for 2024, it is advantageous to complete tests, screenings, or procedures before the year ends,” said Chris Efaw, Vice President of Communications for Southwell. “For most health insurance plans, a calendar year deductible schedule resets on January 1 of each year. This means that you must pay your deductible again if you have any medical expenses that are covered by your health insurance plan during the calendar year.”
Efaw said examples of things to consider getting done before January include a colonoscopy, lab work, diagnostic testing, inpatient or outpatient surgery, and prescription refills.
“Don’t delay the medical attention you need,” said Efaw. “It’s good for your health and it could possibly save you some out-of-pocket expense.”
Efaw added that it is important to check health insurance plan documents to find out when a deductible is due to reset. This information is usually found in the plan’s summary of benefits and coverage.
“Routine health check-ups play a vital role in detecting potential health issues in the early stages,” said Efaw. “This early detection not only enhances the chances of successful treatment but also significantly reduces the financial burden associated with reactive healthcare measures.”
